about the artist

Rachel Brodkey is a Portland-based artist specializing in paint and color. Surrounded by the world of art from early childhood, Rachel's early influences include classical music and ballet training. Saturated in the colorful palette that was a mix of New York City and the New Jersey shore, she has developed a comprehensive body of work that is full of color, movement and life. 

Rachel's early summer studies at Rhode Island School of Design and Parsons, and her Bachelor's degree at Ohio University drew together her multifaceted background of creativity. This solid foundation launched her move to the Pacific Northwest, ready for new impressions and inspiration.
After many years of collaborative work in theater, Burning Man and Arts Education, Rachel has found a the vision and voice reflected in her present solo paintings, inspired by her Portland community.

Other important projects include... Props and craft construction at Rosie O’Donnell Show, Saturday Night Live, Cabaret at Studio 54 among other Broadway credits, and Co-founder Portland's Third Rail Theater Company.
She is an experienced interior decorative painter and has led acknowledged workshops for other working artists.
